Position Summary

This Messman/woman is responsible for assisting in area areas of the galley as directed by the Chief Cook.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

- Transport Canada Ship's Cook Certification

- Transport Canada STCW Basic Safety

- Transport Canada STCW Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties

- Transport Canada Unlimited Medical Health Certificate

- Valid Passport

- Must pass Physical, Drug Screen, Alcohol Screening and Background / Pre-Employment Screening Checks.

Responsibilities

- Treat safety and environmental compliance as a top priority.

- Report any unsafe acts or failure to comply with regulations and/or company procedures to the Master.

- Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed to provide a safe working environment and minimize the potential for pollution.

- Maintaining a very high standard of personal hygiene and neatness.





- Washing and securing the dishes and utensils used by officers / ratings for ships with common messing rooms.

- Ensure a high standard of food safety and sanitation throughout the galley.

- Assisting in cleaning the kitchen area and cooking equipment under the supervision of the Chief Cook.

- Assisting the Chief Cook in the carrying, handling, transferring and storing of food and provisions.

- Assisting in disposing of garbage from the galley or kitchen as directed by the Chief Cook under the guidance of the officer on duty.

Licence/Certification

- STCW Basic Safety (required)

- STCW Ship Personnel with Designated Security Duties (required)

- Transport Canada Ship's Cook Certificate (required)

- Marine Medical Health Certificate or equivalent (required)
