Your Opportunity:
The Rockyview General Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (RGH NICU) is a 30 bed, level 2 unit located in Calgary, Alberta. Critically ill neonates from Southern Alberta receive lifesaving care in this fast paced and constantly evolving environment that is supported by a large multidisciplinary team. A significant part of care provided in the RGH NICU is focused on feeding progression and preparation for discharge home. The Nurse Clinician is a clinical leader, resource person, mentor and role model. You play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care, staff development, and effective change management while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Key Responsibilities: Demonstrates effective communication skills in an acute multi-disciplinary setting. Identifies and reconciles staff and patient issues through collaboration with Managers, Clinical Nurse Educators, Clinicians, staff and the multidisciplinary team. Participates in the daily NICU rounds to ensure consistency of the patient plan of care. Is accountable for overseeing care delivered during assigned shift. Assigns patient care and directs the workflow in the unit by assessing priorities and evaluating resources. Ensures the use of nursing care standards and AHS policies to promote consistency and quality of care. The Nurse Clinician maintains bedside nursing abilities and skills, supports and provides patient care using the nursing process. Assesses patient care practices and techniques, recommends, and implements change as necessary. Identifies individual staff learning needs and acts as a mentor for the multidisciplinary team.
Description:
As a Nurse Clinician (NC), you will be responsible for coordinating an interprofessional team in the provision of quality patient (client, resident) care to meet operational priorities and requirements within a clinical setting.
You will use an integrative leadership approach to assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow, and clinical resources. You will play a key role in providing safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centred care while reflecting the organization¿s shared vision and values.

Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of five years of current NICU nursing experience. NICU Charge Nurse experience within the last 2 years. >6 months NICU Charge Nurse experience. Current NRP certification. Proficiency with Timeless, Connect Care, Microsoft Word, Outlook, MS Teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Nursing. NRP Instructor certification. Nurse Clinician experience. Level 3 NICU experience in the last 5 years. Continuing education in neonatal feeding, change management, leadership, communication, quality improvement, and mentorship/preceptorship. Preceptorship of a final focus nursing student in the last 2 years. Membership in unit working groups or unit quality councils. Completion of NICU Certificate Program. Completion of EPIQ workshop.
