Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and attentive Overnight Awake Assistant to provide temporary support in a group home setting. This role is ideal for individuals with a robust background in senior care, assisted living, or home health services. The position involves ensuring the safety and well-being of core members during overnight hours, offering a vital service to those in need of around-the-clock care. Regular shift hours are from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am, with other daytime shift availability. Candidates with experience in group home environments, working with individuals with disabilities, or dementia care will find this role particularly fitting.

The Overnight Awake

Assistant plays a crucial part in maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for core members while providing respectful and personalized assistance.

Duties

- Monitor core members throughout the overnight shift to ensure safety and comfort
- Respond promptly to core members' needs, including assistance with mobility and personal care
- Administer medications as directed and document all medication-related activities accurately
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding for core members requiring support during nighttime hours
- Support core members with activities of daily living such as hygiene, dressing, and toileting
- Perform light cleaning duties to maintain a hygienic environment




- Observe and report any changes in core member’ health or behavior to the team
- Provide companionship and emotional support to core members during the night shift
- Follow all safety protocols, including dementia care procedures and working with individuals with disabilities

Requirements

- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or home care is highly desirable
- Knowledge of senior care, dementia care, medication administration, and caregiving best practices
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs preferred
- Ability to work overnight shifts and remain awake throughout the duration of the shift
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills
- Ability to perform light cleaning and meal preparation tasks as needed
- Certification or training in caregiving or related fields is a plus but not mandatory
- Reliable, responsible, and able to follow detailed instructions accurately
