If you're hungry to build a varied and meaningful career in a community of brilliant and diverse minds to make a real difference, there's only one choice.The DH Lab Research Assistant is responsible for delivering the short-term and long-term goals of a high-throughput Double Haploid production laboratory through the use of cutting-edge research equipment, methodology and materials to support the decision-making process of the Canola Breeding pipeline, while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.This is a permanent position based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba.What you will do:Execute laboratory operations to meet quality and timeline targetsAssist in all aspects of the production of canola doubled haploids using positive laboratory practices and sterile techniqueThis includes but is not limited to collection and sizing of buds, microspore isolation, embryo culture, maintenance of embryos, making media (includes working with toxic chemicals), transferring embryos onto solid media, tissue sampling, analyzing plant material, and transplantingMaintenance and calibration of laboratory equipmentActively participate in process improvement initiativesFollow all Quality Management System (QMS)
and Health Safety and Environment (HSE) procedures and promote implementation within the DH laboratory operationsMaintain tidiness & orderliness within the workplaceParticipate in task-related document creation and process review for job-related activitiesAssist in other projects & performs other duties as requiredSupervise and train temporary employees as requiredFoster an inclusive environment of professionalism and safe working practices ensuring Safety and Compliance requirements are met or exceededWho you are:Degree or diploma in agricultural/biological science or related fieldStrong computer software literacy, with experience using Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint and central databasesTheoretical and practical knowledge of double haploid productionHighly skilled with aseptic techniqueWillingness to work with ColchicineAbility to lift up to 25 lbsAbility to work as part of a multidisciplinary/multicultural research teamHighly motivated, results oriented,

Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation.
