Join CHEO’s team as a Pediatric Respite Worker, helping children in Ottawa with complex mental health needs through supportive programming and care. As a Respite Worker, you will assist with programming and behaviour management for children and youth admitted to CHEO’s Acute Mental Health department. This critical role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve outcomes for clients with diverse needs.
Your experience in handling complex behaviours will be essential in promoting positive interactions and meeting clients' goals. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and assist with individualized program activities
- Provide physical care, including lifting and transferring
- Establish and enforce program rules for clients
- Assist in managing challenging behaviours under guidance
- Ensure safety and supervision of assigned clients
Requirements:
- Minimum Diploma in Developmental Service Worker
- Recent experience with children having developmental disabilities
- Certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
- CPR-C Level C and Standard First Aid
- Understanding of ABA principles and strategies
