Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting pharmacists in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the secure and effective distribution of medications. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of medical terminology and have experience in a community pharmacy setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently.
- Coordinating vaccination schedules for flu/covid seasons.
- Provide excellent patient care by answering questions and addressing concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, medication inventory, and patient profiles.
- Ensure compliance with all pharmacy regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes through effective medication management.
- Participate in inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications.
- Prepare compliance grid and packaging.
- Be team-player, follow directions of the pharmacist, and take initiative.
- Welcome patients in a professional and considerate manner.
- Respond to telephone calls in a professional and timely manner.
- Create patient and doctor profiles.
- Input prescriptions, package, and alert the pharmacist of any concerns.
- Operate point of sales system.
- Coordinate delivery service.
- Dispose of biomedical waste in a safe manner.
- Open and close the pharmacy according to control and follow-up procedures, where applicable.
- Conduct merchandise claims and returns from various companies.
- Contact vendors, customer support, adjudicators and software support for troubleshooting.
Qualifications
- Proficient in English, written and verbal.
- At least 1 year of experience with Kroll/Kroll paperless.
- Experience in a community pharmacy environment is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Commitment to upholding ethical standards and confidentiality in handling patient information.
- Able to prioritize and multi-task.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to pharmaceuticals and patient care.
- Experience with prescription adjudication
- Arithmetic skills.
- Computer proficiency and literacy, e.g. navigate and search the internet, e-mail
