Make a difference as an Educational Assistant with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. This 100% term position supports students with exceptional needs from 8:20 am to 4:00 pm, 35 hours per week.
Under the guidance of the Principal, you will play a vital role in providing support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities. Relevant experience with special needs and a community college diploma in related fields are essential for this term role. Your responsibilities will vary, involving collaboration with teaching staff and assisting with various educational programs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support students with exceptional needs and learning disabilities
• Assist with academic support and physiotherapy exercises
• Participate in pool programs for eligible students
• Modify learning materials and classroom programs
• Manage outdoor yard duties and student assistance tasks
Requirements:
• Diploma in Developmental Services Worker or Child and Youth Care
• 1-2 years experience with school-aged special needs
• Valid CPR Level C and First Aid certification
• Training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
• Proficient in assistive technology and behavior management
