Company Description Ontario Mock Trial Alliance is dedicated to bridging the gap between pre-law students and the legal profession through mock trial tournaments, networking events, and related educational activities. Role Description The President is a full-time, on-site role based in Toronto, ON, responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Ontario Mock Trial Alliance. This role includes setting organizational priorities, developing annual plans, and ensuring alignment with the Alliance’s mission of supporting pre-law students through mock trial and networking initiatives. Day-to-day responsibilities involve supervising staff and volunteers, overseeing program development and tournament logistics, managing key partnerships with educational institutions and legal organizations, and representing the Alliance at events and meetings.

The President is also accountable for budgeting and financial stewardship, fundraising and sponsorship initiatives,



and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulations. The role requires regular communication with stakeholders, reporting to the board, and fostering an inclusive culture that supports diverse participants and perspectives.

Qualifications

- Leadership and management skills, including experience overseeing teams, delegating responsibilities, and guiding organizational strategy.
- Program and event management skills, such as planning tournaments or conferences, coordinating logistics, and managing timelines and resources.
- Stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, including working with students, educators, legal professionals, sponsors, and community partners.
- Financial and administrative skills, including budgeting, basic financial oversight, reporting, and familiarity with nonprofit or association governance.
- Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present to groups, communicate decisions clearly, and advocate for the organization.
- Experience in legal education, mock trial, debate, or related student advocacy programs is highly beneficial; familiarity with the Canadian legal system is an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and the ability to create welcoming environments for individuals from varied backgrounds.
- Post-secondary education in law, political science, public administration, education, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
