Job Title : Process Engineering Specialist

Location: Mississauga, ON

Contract: 12 months

Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days onsite

Position Overview

We are seeking a senior-level Process Engineering Specialist to provide technical leadership and subject-matter expertise supporting CANDU nuclear projects.

The successful candidate will act as a technical authority for Nuclear Steam Plant (NSP) process systems , with particular emphasis on Heat Transport and Auxiliary Systems . The position will support the design, analysis, modification and technical resolution of complex CANDU process-system challenges.

This is a specialist-level position requiring extensive CANDU knowledge, independent technical judgment and the ability to mentor engineers and transfer critical technical knowledge across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead technical engineering activities associated with recent, updated and modified CANDU Nuclear Steam Plant process systems, structures and components .
- Act as a technical authority for assigned NSP systems.
- Develop practical engineering solutions and resolve complex or critical design challenges.
- Provide technical leadership, supervision, guidance and mentorship relating to NSP system design and operation.
- Perform thermal-hydraulic evaluations of complex nuclear process systems.
- Prepare and/or review nuclear engineering deliverables including:
- Design calculations
- Design requirements
- Engineering assessments
- Technical specifications
- Engineering drawings
- Bills of materials
- System code classifications
- Engineering quotation requests
- Tender technical evaluations
- Perform and/or review heat balance calculations and thermal-hydraulic analyses .
- Support nuclear process-system design and plant layout activities.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable nuclear codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
- Apply applicable nuclear QA requirements and company quality programs throughout engineering activities.
- Support Engineering Management with technical progress updates, project planning and engineering status.




- Interface with internal engineering disciplines, clients, suppliers and other external stakeholders.
- Conduct site walkdowns and participate in site visits and technical meetings as required.

Required Qualifications

- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario .
- Engineering degree from an accredited university in one of the following:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Nuclear Engineering
- Engineering Science
- Minimum 20 years of engineering experience .
- Minimum 10 years leading teams in CANDU nuclear process-system design and/or analysis , including developing engineering solutions for CANDU nuclear power plants.
- Strong experience with Heat Transport and Auxiliary Systems .
- Extensive understanding of CANDU Nuclear Steam Plant design and operation.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex nuclear engineering and technical problems.
- Experience performing heat balance and thermal-hydraulic evaluations .
- Experience with nuclear process-system design and layout.
- Experience performing engineering work under nuclear power plant procedures, practices and qualification requirements.
- Working knowledge of applicable nuclear codes and standards, including:
- CSA N285.0
- ASME Section III
- REGDOC-2.5.2
- CSA B51
- ASME B31.1
- Other applicable standards and regulatory guidance concerning permanent plant components, pressure-boundary equipment and reactor systems.
- Knowledge of mechanical/process analytical tools such as ANSYS, Mathcad, Flomaster, NUCIRC, CATHENA or comparable applications . Expert-level mastery of each individual tool is not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong technical writing capability.
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to operate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering environments.
- Eligible to obtain the required PWGSC security clearance .

Preferred Qualifications

- Site experience supporting the construction or commissioning of nuclear mechanical/process systems.
- Comparable construction/commissioning experience within another heavy-industrial environment.
