Standard Job Description
This role is significant in fulfilling the strategic roadmap goals of LM Canada. As part of the Engineering team, you will be directly involved in translating customer requirements into best-in-class product solutions. These resultant products/systems will serve to maintain Lockheed's robust position in the Naval market space. As a new technical contributor, your role will include learning experiences designed to enrich your understanding of the value proposition that LM provides to our customers.
Technical Tasks
Mechanical design - Produce requirements-driven CAD model solutions to be productized for naval environments using Solidworks or Creo
Physical analysis - Optimize structural design margins with FEA tools to ensure solutions are suitable for use
Thermal design - Optimize mechanical designs considering thermal constraints for cabinet rack-mounted equipment
RF design - Design systems considering conducted/radiated emissions and susceptibility
Test planning - based on requirements develop verification plans to evaluate lifecycle performance of equipment/systems
Peer reviewing - Ensure work products effectively meet requirements, conform to standards and eliminate defects earlier
Requirements reviews- Conduct reviews of internal customer/stakeholder requirements ensuring they are objective and have a clearly defined achievement metric
Design specifications - Author specifications detailing design rationale employed to effectively meet requirements
Risk analysis - Assess risks/opportunities that may be realized during the development lifecycle
Responsibilities
Customer focus: Work with lead engineers to recognize the needs of internal customers and external customers to deliver on requirements. Seek clarity on priorities against timelines. Highlights areas were risk may appear. Suggest/seek mitigation strategies.
Operational Excellence: Take action to ensure internal production and other stakeholders are provided with transparent documentation on product designs. Seek remediation/clarity when inputs received are not meeting expectations.
Continuous Improvement: Seek regular opportunities to improve product development processes. Presents suggestions to peers for feedback.
Measuring/Tracking Progress: Show accountability for estimates of work and tracks progress in major tasks.
Adaptive Leadership: Adapts to change by proactively seeking guidance when task priorities are competing. Dealing with adversity, challenges and change with an open mind to improve one’s skill set and team work.
Basic Qualifications
Current student in an engineering field, preferably electrical or mechanical.
Working knowledge of MS Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio.
Mechanical Design
Thermal Design
Aptitude for working well in teams.
Ability to work independently.
Desired Skills
Working knowledge of Creo, SolidWorks will be considered an asset.
Active security clearance will be considered an asset.
Strong presentation skills
Familiarity with Jira and Confluence
Results-Oriented Self-Starter Attitude.
