The Kwanwatsi Child Care Centre Program Coordinator plays an important role in creating a safe, nurturing, inclusive, and engaging environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. By supporting the day-to-day operations of the Centre, coordinating programming, and providing leadership and guidance to staff, this role helps ensure consistent, high-quality care for children and families.

Wage: $29.56 – 36.76

Eligible ECEs may receive an additional $6.00 per hour through B.C.’s ECE-WE Program.

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: In between 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday (up to 35 hours)

Benefits: Group Health Care plan & Pension Contribution up to 9%

Location & Work Environment: This position is based at the Kwanwatsi Child Care Centre in Campbell River, located on the beautiful unceded territory of the Ligʷiłdaxʷ people.

Reports to: Kwanwatsi Child Care Centre Manager

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a hands-on leadership position. The Program Coordinator works closely with educators and regularly supports the team on the floor wherever needed, including assisting in classrooms, supporting daily routines and activities, and providing coverage during staff absences or breaks. Through a combination of coordination, leadership, and direct involvement, the Program Coordinator helps ensure the Centre operates smoothly while meeting licensing, regulatory, and organizational requirements.

Operations & Staffing

- Monitor daily operations, including reviewing emails to ensure appropriate staffing levels and licensing ratios are maintained
- Supervise educators, practicum students, support staff, and children across programs




- Schedule staff, assign responsibilities, and ensure adequate coverage across both programs
- Support the Child Care Manager in facilitating monthly staff meetings

Health, Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with child care licensing requirements, including maintaining safe staff-to-child ratios
- Promote a secure, healthy, and respectful environment for children, families, and staff
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards

Program Delivery & Quality

- Support and guide staff in implementing the Early Learning Framework
- Oversee program planning and ensure delivery of high-quality, inclusive programming
- Coordinate supports for children with diverse and special needs

Family & Community Engagement

- Maintain positive relationships with families through regular verbal and written communication
- Share updates on programming, child development, and opportunities for family involvement
- Support and co-facilitate bi-monthly parent workshops with staff and the Manager

Staff Development & Support

- Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and supervision to staff
- Identify training needs and recommend professional development opportunities
- Support staff in maintaining current knowledge and best practices
- Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain own knowledge

General





- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Kwanwatsi Child Care Manager

What You Bring

- Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification (required)
- Valid First Aid certification
- Minimum 2–3 years experience in a licensed child care setting
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is an asset
- Strong knowledge of child care licensing regulations and best practices
