Duration: 12-16 months (for co-ops) | 8 months+ (for interns, with potential for extension)

About this opportunity:
We are looking for a highly motivated Co-op Student to join our Radio Algorithms team in Ottawa. The position offers a unique prospect to work on advanced wireless communication technologies, machine learning applications, computer vision, and signal processing algorithms for next-generation radio systems.
You will collaborate with experts across Canada and Sweden and gain hands-on experience in both algorithm development and system validation.
What you will do:
- Develop and evaluate signal processing and machine learning algorithms for radio products.
- Contribute to computer vision and AI-based technology investigations.
- Create simulations, prototypes, and proof-of-concept solutions.
- Analyse large data sets and extract actionable insights.
- Execute software and hardware verification activities in a lab environment.
- Design and automate test methodologies and analysis tools.
- Work closely with system, hardware, and software engineers.
- Support troubleshooting, performance analysis, and technology evaluations.
- Participate in technical reviews and innovation activities.
The skills you bring:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
o Electrical Engineering o Computer Engineering o Computer Science o Wireless Communications o Signal Processing o Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning o or a related field.
- Strong academic performance (Master's students preferred).
- Programming experience in Python and/or C/C++.
- Knowledge of machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, or scikit-learn.
- Understanding of signal processing fundamentals
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with computer vision applications.
- Knowledge of wireless communication systems.
- MATLAB experience.
- Familiarity with Linux development environments.
- Experience with FPGA, DSP, or embedded systems.
- Experience with lab equipment such as signal generators and spectrum analyzers.

Your Pay The salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, and the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
The salary range for this position is:
- Bachelors: $25.50/hr - $34.50/hr
- Masters: $37/hr
