Building Ontario Fund (BOF) is seeking a full-time Senior Financial Accountant. (This job posting represents an existing vacancy.) Accountable for maintaining the BOF’s financial records, including general ledger accounts and financial statements in accordance with Canadian generally accepted accounting principles (PSAB), tax legislation and other relevant policies and directives. Manage financial records, including general ledger accounts and financial statements, for external and internal reporting purposes. Complete account reconciliations, as required Support preparation of external financial statements, related note disclosures and actively support external audits Perform financial analysis and report accurate financial data to support business decisions.

Reconcile financial discrepancies by effective analysis and enquiries Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances and opportunities for improvement and provide insights to management for decision-making. Manage treasury related issues, where applicable Ensure that the BOF complies with all financial regulations, including tax laws, accounting standards and reporting requirements Accountable for the timely preparation of regulatory and other Ministry reports, as needed. Assist with ERP implementation and other system enhancements, as needed Provide guidance and mentorship to more junior accounting team members Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience Chartered Professional Accountant/Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Certified Accountants (CCA) Designation required Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in accounting or finance.

Experience in public sector or financial services/investment space, preferred but not required. Strong technical knowledge in tax and accounting. Knowledge of government financial and accounting principles (PSAB), policies and processes as well as financial reporting processes and agency accountability.





Strong knowledge and skills in financial systems such as QuickBooks or other ERP systems an asset. Knowledge of investment funds and reporting requirements. Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices and procedures.

Interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to collaborate effectively. Robust verbal and written communication skills to document analysis, liaise with all levels of staff; Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data analysis and reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
