About the Program
The Women's Mobile Primary Care Program (WMPC) provides equitable, holistic, trauma-informed and culturally grounded healthcare to urban Indigenous women and gender-diverse people in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
Through mobile and community-based outreach, the WMPC team works to reduce barriers to healthcare and support clients in accessing primary care and other health and community services.
About the Role
Vancouver Aboriginal Health Society (VAHS) is seeking a reliable and adaptable Medical Outreach Administrative Worker to join the WMPC casual on-call pool.
This position provides administrative, outreach and logistical support during WMPC clinics and outreach activities. Responsibilities include client intake and registration, administrative support, maintaining clinic supplies, accompanying clients to appointments and communicating with community partners.
This is a casual, on-call position with no guaranteed hours . Shifts are offered based on program needs and employee availability. Potential shifts may occur Monday through Thursday, generally between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM .
Key Responsibilities
Assist with setting up and closing mobile clinic spaces at community outreach locations
Welcome clients, complete intake documentation and support accurate registration in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
Provide administrative and logistical support to WMPC team members during clinics
Accompany clients to specialist, laboratory, hospital, advocacy and other appointments as required
Maintain and organize medical supplies, forms and outreach materials
Communicate with community partners and outreach site staff
Support documentation, scheduling and client follow-up
Maintain client confidentiality and support a culturally safe, respectful and trauma-informed environment
Perform other related duties as required to support WMPC operations
Qualifications
Minimum one year of administrative or outreach experience in a healthcare, community or social services setting preferred
Experience using an EMR system for client or patient registration is an asset
Knowledge of Indigenous communities, cultural safety and trauma-informed practice is an asset
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Robust interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information
Ability to travel to community locations throughout Vancouver
Ability to lift and carry outreach supplies weighing up to approximately 20 lbs
Working Conditions
This is a casual, on-call position with no guaranteed hours. Work takes place at community-based outreach locations and in office environments.
The position may involve travelling between community sites, accompanying clients to appointments, carrying outreach supplies and extended periods of computer work.
