Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, skilled, and experienced Rough Carpenter / Finish Carpenter to join our construction team. Must carry a minimum of 5 years framing or finish carpentry experience. Great team to work with and plenty of hours available. Work is Monday to Friday with opportunities for weekends on occasion.
Preference given to applicants with extended experience beyond just carpentry but primary focus is heavily weighed on carpentry tasks.
Work is throughout the Greater Toronto Area (plenty of work in Durham Region). Applicant must be willing to commute to various sites.
Duties
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to guide project execution.
- Coordinate material deliveries
- Lead and manage a small crew of skilled labourers and junior carpenters
- Construct, install, and repair frameworks such as walls, floors, ceilings, roofing structures, and concrete forms with accuracy.
- Perform drywall installation, finishing, and repair to achieve smooth surfaces ready for painting or further finishing.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively for cutting, shaping, assembling, and finishing carpentry components.
- Assist with construction estimating by measuring materials and assessing project scope; participate in site safety protocols and heavy lifting activities.
- Enforce safety procedures
Skills
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and understanding schematics for accurate project implementation.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques including framing, woodworking, drywall finishing, cabinet installation, and tile laying.
- Experience with concrete forming, rebar installation, masonry work, roofing, siding installation, and general restoration projects.
- Skilled in operating hand tools (saws, hammers, chisels), power tools (drills, saws), and other construction equipment.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently while maintaining safety standards on-site.
- Familiarity with construction estimating processes for material quantities and project timelines.
- Knowledge of plumbing and electrical basics to support carpentry tasks during renovations or current builds.
- Handyman experience is a significant asset —capable of handling diverse repair or assembly tasks as needed, or filling in on odd tasks.
Pay: $38.00-$45.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week

- Whitby, ON L1M 1A2: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- Framing carpentry: 5 years (required)
- Construction: 10 years (preferred)
