Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Systems Testing/QA Specialist to lead and execute comprehensive quality assurance and software testing activities within enterprise-level IT environments. The successful candidate will have 10+ years of software testing experience , strong expertise in both manual and automated testing, and hands-on experience with functional, integration, regression, performance, API, accessibility, and user acceptance testing.

The role requires strong knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies , AODA compliance, test automation, performance testing, databases, cloud technologies, CI/CD pipelines, defect management, and end-to-end testing of complex enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Test Strategy, Planning & Quality Assurance
- Provide expert guidance on testing strategies, test plans, testing tools, resources, and overall QA approaches.
- Plan, organize, and execute testing activities for large and complex enterprise systems.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, test scripts, test data, and test reports.
- Ensure appropriate coverage of functional and non-functional requirements.
- Apply structured QA methodologies throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Ensure testing processes comply with applicable industry standards, QA practices, accessibility requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Functional, Integration & System Testing
- Execute functional, integration, system, regression, and acceptance testing.
- Plan and conduct system integration testing across GUI and non-GUI environments.
- Support specialized testing, stress testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Validate system behavior under different conditions and scenarios.
- Develop comprehensive test cases and execute them effectively.
- Validate end-to-end functionality across complex enterprise applications.
- Test Automation & API Testing
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts and automated test cases.
- Use automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Micro Focus/OpenText UFT, TestComplete, and Postman.
- Perform API testing using tools such as Postman and similar technologies.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Use scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Bash for test automation and test-data preparation.
- Maintain automated testing solutions using appropriate version control practices.
- Performance, Load & Stress Testing
- Plan and execute performance, load, and stress testing activities.
- Develop performance test scripts using tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar platforms.
- Analyze performance results, identify bottlenecks, and assess system scalability.
- Validate application performance against expected user traffic and data volumes.
- Defect Management & Troubleshooting
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects throughout the testing lifecycle.
- Use defect management tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, ALM, Bugzilla, TestRail, and Zephyr.
- Collaborate closely with developers to reproduce, investigate, and resolve defects.




- Monitor defect resolution and perform appropriate retesting and regression testing.
- Maintain accurate records of test results, defects, test coverage, and quality metrics.
- Database, Data & Backend Testing
- Perform backend testing and validate data using SQL and database query tools.
- Validate data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across system components and databases.
- Work with databases such as SQL and Oracle.
- Develop and manage effective test-data strategies.
- Generate realistic and sufficient test data while considering data privacy requirements.
- Support data migration and transformation testing as required.
- Accessibility, Security & Compliance Testing
- Apply knowledge of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and related accessibility standards.
- Conduct accessibility testing and support AODA compliance.
- Perform basic security testing and collaborate with security specialists when deeper security or penetration testing is required.
- Ensure testing activities align with applicable regulatory, security, and compliance requirements.
- Agile & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with developers, Business Analysts, Project Managers, testing leads, IT leads, and business stakeholders.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with functional and technical teams to clarify requirements and ensure quality.
- Provide input into user manuals, release notes, and other project documentation.
- Communicate testing progress, risks, results, and quality metrics to project stakeholders.

- 10+ years of software testing experience in enterprise-level IT environments and large-scale systems.
- Robust hands-on experience in both manual and automated testing.
- Deep understanding of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall testing methodologies.
- Extensive experience with AODA testing and accessibility compliance.
- Experience creating and maintaining test strategies, test plans,



test cases, test scripts, test data, and test reports.
- Experience with Selenium, Postman, or comparable test automation/API testing tools.
- Experience with JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar performance testing tools.
- Experience with JIRA, Azure DevOps, ALM, Bugzilla, or similar defect tracking platforms.
- Proven expertise in end-to-end testing of complex systems.
- Strong knowledge of QA compliance standards and security testing practices.

Technical Skills & Experience – 35%
- Strong understanding of SQL and Oracle databases.
- Knowledge of Azure and AWS cloud technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, Git, and GitLab.
- Knowledge of API testing and backend validation.
- Experience with automated test frameworks and version control systems.
- Ability to write database queries for data validation and backend testing.
- Experience with test-data generation, management, privacy, and environment management.
- Experience validating data integrity across applications and databases.
- Experience with data migration and transformation testing.
- Experience developing and executing performance test scripts and analyzing scalability and bottlenecks.

- Knowledge of testing methods in object-oriented environments.
- Knowledge of Information Management principles, concepts, policies, and practices.
- Strong understanding of AODA and related accessibility regulations and standards.
- Experience planning testing efforts for both large and small systems.
- Experience coding automated test scripts and developing automated test-case suites.
- Experience testing Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) applications.
- Previous Ontario Public Service or broader public-sector experience.
