Child & Youth Services Specialist (CYSS) operate as a youth subject matter expert within the state, as it relates to planning and delivering youth programs and providing relevant support and resources to the National Guard military youth and families. The CYSS works closely with the Child & Youth Services Program Manager (CYS-PM) and State Family Program Director (SFPD) to ensure youth services being provided support the needs of the military population(s) being served and align with established national metrics of performance. Additionally, CYSS actively works to recruit, train and manage a state-level volunteer team,
as well as build local and state-level partnerships with youth service programs and organizations.
Minimum Qualifications
Four years of college and relevant work experience in areas related to youth programming and development
Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, social media platforms, AI, and design software/websites
Ability to work in the vicinity of youth, vulnerable adults, and pass both state and federal background checks
Ability to support program and position requirements, which may include occasional travel both within the state and nationally, as well as some evenings and weekends.
Must be available to work a variety of work hours including nights and weekends.
Able to pass a criminal background check, NACI with inquiries, and be able to pass periodic background checks to obtain common access card (CAC/Government ID).
Requires a valid Class D Driver’s License. This is a basic driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Youth Development, Public Administration, Human Services, or a closely related field
Experience and Knowledge of the Military.
Physical Requirements
This position is primarily administrative. Must be able to move files of up to 75lbs. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle to travel to sites as needed.
