The Opportunity Reporting to the finance leadership team,
the Senior Accountant will manage a portfolio of legal entities and real estate investment structures while supporting the financial operations of a sophisticated and diversified group of companies.
This role offers exposure to financial reporting, real estate development accounting, investments, joint ventures, treasury activities, tax support, and ownership reporting. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across multiple business sectors and play an important role in supporting strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle accounting for an assigned portfolio of companies, developments, and investment entities
- Prepare account reconciliations, supporting schedules, working papers, and year-end files
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Monitor and analyze financial performance across development projects and investment portfolios
- Maintain and update project and investment information within the ERP system
- Prepare investment and joint venture reconciliations, including equity accounting
- Support corporate tax compliance and preparation of tax schedules
- Assist with personal and trust tax reporting requirements
- Monitor cash flow and funding requirements across multiple entities
- Maintain investment schedules and support treasury-related activities
- Partner with project teams and business leaders to ensure accurate financial reporting and analysis
- Participate in special projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and strategic business activities
Qualifications
- CPA designation required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Solid understanding of financial reporting, corporate taxation, HST, and payroll processes
- Experience within real estate, development, construction, investments, or related industries is considered a strong asset
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
- Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, net suite or comparable is considered an asset
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a quick-paced environment
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates initiative, curiosity, and a willingness to learn and grow
