Hiring: Senior Java & Apache Spark Developer

Location: Montreal, QC — Onsite

Experience: 7–12+ Years

We are seeking a Senior Java & Apache Spark Engineer to join our engineering team and build scalable, high-performance, data-intensive applications.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Core Java applications.
- Build scalable backend services and distributed processing solutions using Java & Apache Spark.
- Develop batch and real-time data processing pipelines.
- Optimize Spark jobs for performance, scalability, reliability, and resource utilization.
- Work with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
- Develop complex SQL queries and perform database/query optimization.
- Troubleshoot production issues and conduct root-cause analysis.
- Participate in architecture, technical design, code reviews, Agile ceremonies, and mentoring.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools, prompt engineering, and GenAI capabilities to improve engineering productivity.
- Collaborate with architects, product owners, data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
- 7+ years of software development experience.
- Strong expertise in Core Java (Java 8/11/17+).
- Hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Spark SQL, DataFrames/Datasets.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems and large-scale data processing.
- Excellent understanding of OOP, design patterns, multithreading, concurrency,



and JVM performance tuning.
- Strong SQL skills and experience with complex query optimization.
- Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
- Strong Linux/Unix and Git experience.
- Excellent analytical, debugging, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Java: Core Java, Collections, Multithreading, Concurrency, JVM Tuning, OOD

Big Data: Apache Spark, Spark SQL, DataFrames, Datasets, Distributed Computing

Databases: SQL, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Data Warehousing
