Push Operations

Canada

The Company:

Push is an all-in-one platform that helps businesses grow and scale their companies by simplifying HR, payroll, time tracking, and scheduling. Our purpose is to help our customers free up their time by making people management ridiculously easy, so they can focus on their passion.

Our customer base includes some of the biggest brands, such as Earls Restaurant, Cactus Club, Crumbl Cookies and more.

The Team:

We're a group of competitive, dedicated people who place a high priority on competence and efficiency, but an even higher stock in engaged and passionate team members who contribute to our culture and make an impact. As part of our rapidly growing team you will play an key and unique role in working towards our mission to help 1 million people do what they love.

The Role:

You'll own the product vision for payroll and integrations, two of the most business-critical surfaces we have, and you'll set direction rather than execute someone else's roadmap. You'll work with a talented team of engineers, designers, and payroll specialists and over time you'll be the person the company looks to when a payroll or integrations question needs an answer.

Two things make this job different from most SaaS PM roles.

The first is stakes. Payroll has to be right the first time, every time. Our customers are paying tens of thousands of people, on deadlines set by tax authorities rather than by us. Getting that right consistently is one of the things we're proudest of, and protecting it while we keep building is the central challenge of this role. If you're drawn to problems where the bar is exactness rather than approximation, this is that kind of problem.

The second is breadth across two countries. You'll drive payroll initiatives in both Canada and the United States. That means CRA remittances, T4s, ROEs and provincial variation on one side, and federal, state and local US payroll taxes on the other, with year-end running on both calendars. We're looking for someone who already knows payroll in at least one of those two countries and wants to go deep on the other.

Alongside payroll, you'll own our integrations portfolio: 50+ POS, HR, accounting and benefits integrations that connect Push to the rest of our customers' stacks. That work is part product, part platform and part partnership. You'll decide what we build, what we maintain, what gets rebuilt and what we sunset.

Kindly note this position is for an existing role which we are actively hiring for.

Location:

Recently the world has changed so we are changing with it.

We’re embracing new ways of working and are constantly adapting our practices to ensure that wherever you are working from, you feel a part of the team and have everything you need to work comfortably. We are a remote-first company, Pushies can choose to work remotely or from our Downtown Vancouver office.

We are considering eligible candidates for this role from any location across Canada.

What you'll do

- Set and communicate the product vision and roadmap for payroll and integrations, and get the company aligned behind it
- Drive payroll initiatives across both Canadian and US jurisdictions, from discovery through launch and adoption
- Own the integrations portfolio end to end, including build/maintain/refactor/sunset decisions, API and platform direction.
- Talk to customers regularly. Understand how they run payroll day to day, where we can save them the most time, and what they want next
- Define the metrics that matter for payroll accuracy and integration health, and use them to make and defend decisions
- Work day to day with design, engineering, QA, support, sales and customer success
- Build the go-to-market plan with our customer facing teams, and make sure launches land with customers rather than just shipping

What success looks like in your first six months

- Month 1-2: You know the payroll product end to end, well enough to explain how it works and where the biggest opportunities are. You've spoken with at least a dozen customers and spent real time with our support and implementation teams.
- Month 3-4: You've published a roadmap for payroll and integrations that leadership, engineering and go-to-market all recognize as the plan, with a clear point of view on the Canada/US split.
- Month 5-6: You've shipped something meaningful and can point to the measurable difference it made, and the integrations portfolio has a documented strategy that engineering and go-to-market both work from.

What we're looking for

- 6+ years in product management, with several of those owning a product area end to end rather than executing a defined roadmap
- Hands-on payroll experience in Canada or the United States. You've built, run or owned payroll products or payroll operations in at least one of the two, and you understand what remittance deadlines,

year-end and tax compliance actually demand. Experience in both is a strong advantage
- Experience in B2B SaaS with real operational complexity. Products where implementation, data migration or third-party systems are part of the job
- Comfort working with data directly. You can pull what you need, form a view, and show your work
- Fluency with APIs and integrations at a product level. You don't need to write the code, but you should be able to hold a design conversation with an engineer and make sound tradeoffs
- Clear, persuasive writing. Much of the influence in this role is written
- A track record of shipping products that customers adopted, not just products that launched

Nice to have

- Payroll experience across both Canada and the US
- Experience in another highly regulated domain alongside payroll: benefits, tax, fintech, healthcare
- Platform, API or partner ecosystem product work
- POS or HRIS integration experience
- Hospitality, restaurant or multi-unit franchise customers
