Position Overview
We’re currently looking for a motivated Shop Labourer who is interested in building a career in the skilled trades. This position offers an excellent opportunity to learn custom fabrication, steel fitting, and welding while working alongside experienced tradespeople.
Whether you already have shop experience or are looking to grow your skills, we're looking for someone with a positive attitude, a solid work ethic, and a willingness to learn.
This position involves working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced custom fabrication environment where quality, safety, and teamwork are important.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut, prepare, and assist with fitting, fabricating, and welding steel components.
- Assist with GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux Core), and SMAW (Stick) welding as skills develop.
- Work with plate, sheet metal, and structural steel.
- Assist experienced fabricators and welders with daily production.
- Help maintain high-quality workmanship throughout all projects.
- Safely operate shop equipment and fabrication tools.
- Assist with field installations and on-site work when required.
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet project schedules.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Work occasional weekends when required.
- Work overtime when necessary to help complete customer projects.
- Shop clean-up and miscellaneous shop duties.
- Deliver and pick up materials and parts for the shop.
- Clean, prep, prime, and paint steel assemblies.
Qualifications that are an Asset
- Previous experience working in a fabrication, manufacturing, construction, or industrial shop environment is considered an asset.
- Experience working around structural steel or custom metal fabrication is an asset but not required.
- Fork truck experience or licence is an asset.
- Experience operating Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP, Scissor Lift, Boom Lift, or Telehandler) is an asset.
- Experience with GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux Core), or SMAW (Stick) welding is an asset.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong work ethic.
- Reliable attendance and dependable work habits.
- Takes pride in producing quality workmanship.
- Able to work independently as well as with a team.
- Comfortable driving company vehicles and pulling a shop trailer (training provided if required).
- Experience preparing and painting steel assemblies is an asset.
- Comfortable operating or learning to operate a fork truck.
Certifications that are an Asset
- CWB certifications for GMAW and FCAW.
- CWB SMAW certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Working at Heights Certificate.
- Elevated Work Platform (MEWP/Scissor Lift/Boom Lift/Telehandler) certification.
- Valid Ontario G2 or G Driver's Licence.
- Reliable transportation.
- Able to commute within approximately 45 minutes of Guelph.

Work Location In person Pay: $20.91-$24.60 per hour
