The Snow Shoveler team member is an on-call position that is responsible for supporting safe and accessible resort operations by clearing snow and managing winter conditions throughout designated areas of RED Mountain Resort.

This position operates on an on-call basis in response to snowfall and changing weather conditions. Work may occur overnight, early morning, during operating hours, and on weekends or holidays. The position requires reliable availability, safe equipment operation, strong situational awareness, and the ability to work independently in winter conditions.

The primary objective is to ensure priority roadways, parking areas, pedestrian routes, building entrances, loading areas, and other designated resort spaces are safely and efficiently cleared in preparation for employees and guests.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Snow Removal & Winter Operations

- Complete snow removal from assigned parking lots, roadways, loading areas, service areas, and other designated resort locations.
- Clear building entrances, walkways, stairs, emergency exits, and other pedestrian areas as assigned.
- Follow established snow removal priorities to ensure critical operational and emergency access areas are addressed first.
- Operate snow removal equipment safely and efficiently, snow blowers, and other equipment based on training and authorization.
- Apply sand, salt, ice melt, or other traction materials to designated areas as required.
- Monitor changing snow and ice conditions and address hazards within assigned areas.
- Coordinate snow removal activities around, buildings, pedestrians, resort equipment, and other operational activities.
- Assist with additional snow removal during significant or prolonged storm events as required.

ON-CALL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Maintain reliable availability during assigned on-call periods.
- Respond to call-outs within the established response time.
- Be prepared for work to begin overnight or in the early morning based on snowfall and operational requirements.
- Monitor communication from the designated supervisor regarding call-outs, priorities, and changing conditions.
- Notify the supervisor promptly if unable to respond to an assigned call-out.




- Remain available for additional snow removal requirements during significant snowfall events where operationally required.

EQUIPMENT & DAILY INSPECTIONS

- Complete required pre-use inspections before operating snow removal equipment.
- Confirm equipment is safe and operational before beginning work.
- Monitor fuel, fluids,and other basic equipment conditions as applicable.
- Refuel and properly park equipment following established procedures.
- Keep equipment reasonably clean and ready for the next operator.
- Immediately report equipment damage, mechanical concerns, or unsafe operating conditions.
- Complete required equipment logs, inspection records, and damage reports.

SAFETY

- Operate all equipment in accordance with RED Mountain Resort procedures, manufacturer requirements, and applicable training.
- Maintain awareness of pedestrians, vehicles, buildings, lift infrastructure, utilities, snowbanks, curbs, barriers, and other hazards.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
- Report hazards, incidents, property damage, or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Do not operate equipment for which appropriate training or authorization has not been provided.
- Participate in required safety meetings and training.

COMMUNICATION & COORDINATION

- Maintain communication with the Facilities Manager, Operations team, or designated supervisor regarding snow conditions and completion status.
- Communicate areas that require additional attention or cannot be safely completed.
- Report significant snow accumulation, ice conditions, drainage issues, equipment concerns, or other conditions that could affect resort operations.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

- Previous snow removal, equipment operation, landscaping, construction, facilities, or similar experience is an asset.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.




- Strong situational awareness and commitment to safe equipment operation.
- Reliable and able to respond to call-outs during assigned on-call periods.
- Ability to prioritize work based on operational and safety requirements.
- Comfortable working early morning, and during severe winter weather.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of the broader Operations team.

PHYSICAL & WORKING REQUIREMENTS

This position operates in a mountain environment and requires work during challenging winter conditions. The successful candidate must be able to:
- Work outdoors during snowfall, cold temperatures, wind, and changing weather conditions.
- Work early mornings, weekends, and holidays based on snowfall and operational requirements.
- Work in low-light and reduced-visibility conditions.
- Safely navigate snow-covered, icy, and uneven surfaces.
- Perform manual snow removal duties where required.
- Lift, push, pull, and carry snow removal equipment and materials within reasonable occupational requirements.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. multiple times a day.

- Safe and productive operation of snow removal equipment.
- Pedestrian routes, entrances, emergency exits, and critical access points being maintained safely.
- Equipment inspections and reporting being completed consistently.
- Effective communication regarding snow conditions, equipment issues, and work completed.
- Property damage and operational disruptions being minimized through careful equipment operation.
- Safe work practices being consistently followed.

All RED Mountain Resort employees are expected to contribute to a safe, respectful, and professional workplace and support the overall guest experience. Responsibilities may change based on snowfall, weather, resort visitation, and operational requirements, and employees may be asked to perform other reasonable duties consistent with the nature of the position.
