Responsibilities
Execute switch and router replacements across data centre, branch, and campus environments — staging, configuration, cutover, and validation
Build and standardize configurations from approved templates; identify and flag drift
Own your changes end to end: write the change record, present it at CAB, execute in the window, validate, and close
Troubleshoot L2/L3 issues under time pressure during and after cutovers, including rollback decisions
Perform pre-cutover discovery and dependency mapping on legacy gear
Update as-builts, diagrams, and IPAM records — accurately, without being chased
Coordinate directly with app teams, security, facilities, and vendors to sequence work
Work independently across multiple concurrent sites with minimal supervision
Qualifications
8+ years hands‑on enterprise network engineering,
with the majority in operations and implementation rather than design
Deep Cisco routing and switching: Catalyst (9000 series), Nexus (NX‑OS, vPC, VDC), ISR/ASR, IOS‑XE
Demonstrated delivery on at least one large‑scale hardware refresh or migration program
Strong core protocol depth: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, spanning tree, VLANs, VRFs, HSRP/VRRP, QoS
Proven experience in banking, insurance, or capital markets — you understand regulated change control, segregated environments, and why a failed window is a serious event
Comfortable working in ITIL change management (ServiceNow or equivalent) and writing your own change records
Willing and available to work scheduled evening and weekend maintenance windows
Self‑directed: takes a work package, asks the right questions once, and delivers without daily direction
CCNP or CCIE (R&S; / Enterprise Infrastructure)
Cisco ACI, SD‑WAN (Viptela), DNA Center / Catalyst Center
Cisco ISE and 802.1X in a production financial environment
Firewall exposure (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/FTD)
Automation for repetitive config work — Python, Ansible, or Netmiko
