Job Overview De Paris is a French-inspired restaurant located in the heart of Yorkville, Toronto. We specialize in brunch, dinner and private events, offering French cuisine with Mediterranean influences.

We are seeking an experienced, organized and hands-on Sous Chef to support the Head Chef and help lead our kitchen team. The successful candidate must be comfortable supervising service, maintaining consistent culinary standards and taking responsibility for kitchen operations when the Head Chef is unavailable.

Responsibilities

- Support the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations.
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team during preparation and service.
- Take charge of kitchen operations when the Head Chef is unavailable.
- Prepare and execute menu items according to established recipes, portions and presentation standards.
- Ensure all kitchen stations are organized, stocked and ready before service.
- Monitor food quality, consistency, presentation and ticket times.
- Train, coach and provide direction to line cooks and prep cooks.
- Delegate daily preparation and cleaning responsibilities.
- Assist with inventory counts, ordering, receiving and proper storage of deliveries.
- Monitor food waste, portion control and product usage.
- Maintain accurate food labelling, rotation and FIFO procedures.
- Ensure compliance with food-safety, sanitation and allergen requirements.




- Maintain a clean, organized and professional kitchen environment.
- Communicate product shortages, equipment problems and staffing concerns promptly.
- Work collaboratively with the Head Chef, restaurant management and front-of-house team.
- Support brunch, dinner, private events and seasonal menu changes.

Qualifications
- Minimum three years of skilled kitchen experience.
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Junior Sous Chef, Chef de Partie or senior line cook with leadership responsibilities.
- Previous experience supervising and training kitchen employees.
- Experience in a high-volume brunch or full-service restaurant is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of French, European or Mediterranean cuisine is an asset.
- Strong understanding of cooking techniques, kitchen organization and service execution.
- Knowledge of inventory management, portion control and food-cost management.
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain organized and professional during busy service periods.
- Ontario Food Handler Certification, or willingness to obtain it before starting.
- Flexible availability for mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Pay: $27.00-$30.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 42.0 per week
