Our services are rooted in trauma‑informed and harm reduction practices, assisting people at various stages of involvement in the criminal justice system.
We are actively hiring a Human Resources Manager to support organizational effectiveness through the management of core human resources functions, including full‑cycle recruitment, onboarding, employee records, perks administration, employee and labour relations, policy development, performance management, training, health and safety, and HR systems. The Human Resources Manager works closely with management to support effective people practices, employee engagement, organizational compliance, and a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
KeyResponsibilities Recruitment and Hiring: Manage recruitment activities, including job postings, application screening, interviews, candidate tracking, applicant communication, and reference checks. Maintain job descriptions and postings and coordinate onboarding and
Onboarding and Orientation: Coordinate orientation for new employees, ensuring all required documentation, training, certifications,
and clearances are completed and properly documented in accordance with the established onboarding checklist.
Employee Records: Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including hard‑copy and electronic files, employee information, absences, vacations, leaves, certifications, and Security clearances.
Benefits and Payroll: Administer employee benefits and work with Finance on payroll‑related HR matters, including new hires, benefits, and Records of Employment.
Training and Development: Coordinate staff training and maintain the organization‑wide Learning Management System (Citation Canada), with particular responsibility for tracking and ensuring completion of all statutory and mandatory training requirements.
Employee Engagement and Wellness: Coordinate employee surveys, review results, and recommend initiatives to improve employee engagement, wellness, and workplace experience.
Health and Safety: Support workplace health and safety practices, participate as the management representative on the Joint Health and Safety Committee, and support legislative compliance.
Employee and Labour Relations: Provide HR guidance to employees and management, support problem‑solving, strengthen employee and labour relations, and address HR‑related concerns.
Policies and Organizational Support: Develop and update HR policies and procedures, conduct exit interviews and analyze findings, support organizational HR initiatives, maintain confidentiality, and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Post‑secondary education/ Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labour Relations, or a related field. A CHRP/CHRL designation or progress toward a professional HR designation is an asset.
Minimum 5 experience working in human resources, with experience across recruitment, onboarding, employee records, benefits administration,
performance management, employee relations, policy development, and training coordination. Experience in non‑profile will be an asset.
Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment standards, workplace policies, employee relations, health and safety requirements, and other applicable employment legislation.
Experience working with unionized and non‑unionized employees and familiarity with collective agreement administration and labour relations practices is an asset.
Demonstrated commitment to trauma‑informed, anti‑oppressive, anti‑racist, intersectional feminism.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information with discretion, professionalism, sound judgement, and a high level of integrity.
Proficient in updating client information systems, Microsoft 365 suite, and virtual platforms, and other HR‑related technology.
Strong administrative, documentation, record‑keeping, and reporting skills with excellent attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal, relationship management, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices and experience participating in or supporting a Joint Health and Safety Committee is an asset.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in‑person. Ability to travel occasionally between offices as required.
Bilingual in French or other languages is an asset.
