Under leadership of the Pastry Chef, the assistant is responsible for preparing and delivering food services as per function sheet. The incumbent is required to prepare daily mise en place in mass production to create exceptional experiences through high quality food and superior customer service.
Minimum Qualifications:
2 Years minimum experience in a culinary setting. Solid preference given to those with experience in mid to large sized operations
2 years minimum experience in patisserie, baking and/or pastry environment is strongly preferred
Ability to work quickly, efficiently and keep organized is a must
1-2 years’ experience in mass production of baked goods
Experience with product rotation, requisitioning and ordering inventory
Responsibilities:
Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service
Receiving, storing with proper rotation, and preparing all food items needed in our numerous kitchens
Preparation (mise en place) of items as instructed by the Pastry Chef
Following the departmental standards and recipes
Clean and maintain all equipment, counter tops, shelves, utensils, general work area and refrigerator in accordance to company health and safety regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of all storage areas
Reporting any areas and equipment in need of a work order
Commitment to the ongoing success of our culinary team
Enforce a safe work environment for all colleagues and guests by upholding the safety rules provided by The Calgary Zoo
Foster an environment of cooperation within the department, and between other departments within the hotel, encouraging participation and input from all colleagues, while promoting professional work habits that will ensure that the department is being guided at all times by The Calgary Zoo’s Mission, Vision and Values
