Labourers at On Side are significant team members who help rebuild and restore damaged property, anywhere and anytime disaster strikes. Willing to learn, eager to being taught and full of ambition, the Labourer knows they’re going places in life and this is the first stop on the way to success!
Water damage in a home or business is one of the most stressful events our clients might ever experience. At On Side, Water Damage Technicians (WDTs) go wherever a burst pipe, blocked drain, sewer backup or other water-related disaster calls.
Working directly with the Water Damage Technicians, learning the ropes, this position is the steppingstone to becoming a Tech!
Compensation
Salary Range: $21-$24/hour
Overtime opportunities (regularly)
On-call premium and overtime paid for rotating coverage

What You’ll Do
Clean and restore areas impacted by water-related disasters
Assist technicians with restoration tasks
Perform demolition of affected structures and materials
Set up and monitor drying equipment
Support emergency mitigation efforts as needed
Heavy lifting when moving and re arranging household contents
What You Bring
Physically fit— water damage can, at times, include heavy lifting and getting into (and out of) tight places
Understanding and experience using hand and power tools
Mechanical aptitude— you can look at something and just know how it works
Interest in demolition and emergency mitigation




Desire to train into a technician role
Tech savviness (capability to learn applications and computer programs as required)
Willingness to follow all company safety requirements including wearing full PPE as required: Full face masks require clean shave (if applicable)
Curious nature, always want to know how things happen
Strong people, teamwork and communication skills
Attention to detail, ability to follow directions
A safety mindset
Valid driver’s licence, clean drivers abstract and a clean criminal record (we do check)
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement. Meaning you’ll work regular weekday hours and participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule.
