Description: Description: The Therapy Assistant is responsible for assisting in the delivery of therapeutic rehabilitation programs.



The Therapy Assistant participates in assessment related activities as well as the planning and development of client programs which includes leading individual or group treatment and educational interventions.This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Required Qualifications: A directly related diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution is required.
Additional Required Qualifications: At least one year experience providing care to seniors in the community with mental health and addictions diagnosis. At least one year experience with recreation program delivery.



Must have a valid drivers license and personal vehicle to complete outreach work with clients in the community. Strong communication skills and ability to adapt communication style to meet varying needs. Valuable organizational and conflict resolution skills required. Excellent time management skills. Ability to be proactive with independent learning needs and up to date with current competencies. Ability to recognize and manage the needs of seniors served. Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently. Basic Life Support training required. The ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time and ability to lift, push, or carry a variety of equipment. Job requires active participation and involvement in a variety of physical activities with seniors in the community.
Preferred Qualifications: Ambulatory Connect Care training. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training.
