About the Role Our client is seeking a dedicated Conservation Architect with a passion for heritage preservation to join their esteemed practice in Kimberley . This role focuses on the meticulous planning, design, and supervision of the conservation, restoration, and adaptive reuse of historical buildings and sites. You will work closely with heritage consultants, engineers, and artisans to ensure that interventions are sensitive, appropriate, and meet stringent conservation standards. The ideal candidate possesses a deep respect for historical structures, strong technical skills in heritage conservation, and the ability to manage complex restoration projects while respecting the cultural significance of the built heritage in the Northern Cape .
Key Responsibilities Assess the condition of heritage buildings and develop conservation strategies and proposals.
Design and document restoration, conservation, and adaptive reuse projects for historical structures.
Liaise with heritage authorities, clients, and stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals.
Oversee construction work on heritage sites, ensuring adherence to conservation principles and materials.
Conduct research into historical building techniques,



materials, and traditional craftsmanship.
Prepare detailed reports, specifications, and conservation management plans.
Requirements Professional registration with SACAP as an Architect.
Minimum of 7 years of experience, with a significant portion dedicated to heritage conservation and restoration projects.
Demonstrated understanding of heritage legislation, conservation principles, and historical building typologies.
Proficiency in architectural documentation software, with an understanding of the nuances required for heritage projects.
Experience in working with traditional materials and construction methods.
Strong research, analytical, and reporting skills, with excellent attention to detail.
