Join the Halifax Regional Centre for Education as a Mi’kmaw/Indigenous Student Support Worker. This position is dedicated to improving educational experiences and outcomes for Indigenous youth within a supportive workplace.
In your role as a Mi’kmaw/Indigenous Student Support Worker, you will implement strategies that promote academic success for Mi’kmaw and other Indigenous students. You will work under the guidance of the Regional Coordinator of Mi’kmaw Education/Services while collaborating with educators to enhance the school experience. Your expertise in Indigenous culture and community engagement will be essential for fostering effective communication between students, families, and school staff.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop strategies for supporting Indigenous students effectively
• Coordinate with school principals on educational initiatives
• Foster communication links between school and families
• Provide targeted support to enhance student outcomes
• Ensure thorough documentation and case management
Requirements:
• Degree in social sciences or equivalent experience
• Significant experience working with Indigenous populations
• Over three years of targeted youth support experience
• Familiarity with case management practices
• Passion for creating an inclusive educational environment
