With the Department of Justice, this Cook position requires excellent food preparation expertise in a correctional environment. You will lead inmate crews during food service, maintain hygiene standards, and ensure compliance with operational guidelines while nurturing new employees through mentorship.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals for inmates
• Supervise food service crew of up to 12 inmates
• Keep accurate records of food service operations
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety
• Mentor and train new staff and relief workers
Requirements:
• Journeyman certification in cooking and food safety
• Minimum of 2 years in commercial/institutional food prep
• First Aid and CPR certification required
• Proven problem-solving and communication skills
• Awareness of local Aboriginal cultures is a plus
