This role sits at the intersection of industrial automation, manufacturing systems, data architecture, and digital transformation. The successful candidate will work directly with clients to understand operational challenges, translate those needs into technical solutions, and support implementation across complex plant and enterprise environments.
The position is well suited to someone who combines strong technical capability with a consultative mindset and is comfortable working across both engineering and business stakeholders.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Solution Design & Technical Architecture
Develop technical solutions for manufacturing execution, production operations, and industrial data initiatives
Translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical designs
Consider operational, regulatory, and business requirements when shaping technical solutions
Partner with functional and business stakeholders to validate requirements and ensure technical feasibility
Support architecture reviews and technical decision-making
Implementation & Integration
Configure and implement manufacturing technology platforms and related applications
Support production tracking, quality, traceability, performance, scheduling, inventory, and maintenance use cases
Design industrial data architectures that connect plant-floor systems with enterprise and analytics platforms
Build and maintain data models, integrations, and communication structures
Integrate manufacturing platforms with ERP, SCADA, PLC, historian, quality, laboratory, and analytics systems
Testing & Deployment
Lead technical testing and integration validation
Support user acceptance testing and production readiness
Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, configuration specifications, and deployment procedures
Participate in commissioning, deployment, and production go‑live activities
Troubleshoot technical issues and support successful implementation
Client & Project Delivery
Work directly with clients throughout the project lifecycle
Manage smaller technical engagements, including scope, schedule, and resource coordination
Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences
Collaborate with distributed delivery teams and external partners
Mentor junior technical team members and contribute to technical reviews
Help develop reusable technical standards, templates, and accelerators
Growth & Solution Support
Participate in technical discovery and solution‑design conversations
Support demonstrations, feasibility assessments, and architecture discussions
Contribute to technical estimates and proposal development
Identify opportunities to expand or improve existing client solutions
What We're Looking For
Experience
Approximately 4-7 years of experience in industrial automation, manufacturing systems, industrial software, or a related technical workplace
Hands‑on experience implementing manufacturing execution or plant‑floor technology solutions
Experience integrating operational technology with enterprise systems
Exposure to multiple manufacturing functional areas such as production, quality, traceability, scheduling, or performance management
Technical Skills
Strong SQL capabilities
Experience with Python or similar scripting languages
Understanding of industrial data models and manufacturing integration concepts
Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and APIs
Experience working with cloud, virtualized, Windows, or Linux environments is beneficial
Exposure to industrial data architectures, event‑driven messaging, or unified data models is an asset
Consulting Profile
Able to translate operational and business problems into technical solutions
Comfortable working independently in ambiguous environments
Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving ability
Organized and able to manage competing priorities
Collaborative and willing to mentor less experienced team members
Technically credible without needing to spend all day coding
Candidates may be aligned to a regional office or delivery team
Some client interaction and travel may be required depending on project needs
Both permanent and contract‑to‑hire arrangements may be considered
The strongest candidate will combine:
Manufacturing or industrial technology knowledge
Strong technical implementation skills
Experience connecting plant‑floor and enterprise systems
A client‑facing consulting mindset
The ability to communicate comfortably with engineers, business leaders, and operations teams
This is a remote role that can be fulfilled from anywhere in Canada (potential for some travel).
(Note that our client is also open to considering contractors/consultants for this role).
