Empower youth as a Community Youth Counsellor with the John Howard Society of Ottawa. This full-time role involves mobile community outreach and delivering innovative programs designed for at-risk youth.
This full-time contract position focuses on community services aimed at youth intervention through four key programs. You will support the Non-Residential Attendance Centre, On Point, Diversion Services, and Choices School-Based Program. The successful candidate must possess a degree and have at least 2 years of experience with vulnerable populations, particularly youth in challenging circumstances.
Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate structured group interventions for youth
• Support youth in achieving goals through innovative strategies
• Collaborate with community partners to enhance client outcomes
• Deliver programs in educational and community settings
• Maintain compliance with youth justice system initiatives
Requirements:
• Post-secondary degree in social services or criminal justice
• Minimum 2 years of experience with youth justice
• Proficient in both English and French (asset)
• Understanding of mental health and substance use issues
• Transparent Criminal Reference Check under vulnerable sector
