Job Description
Union: OPSEU

New or Replacement Position: Replacement

Site: Princess Margaret Cancer Centre

Department: Pharmacy

Reports to: Manager

Wage Range: $32.32 to $37.26 per hour (start rate is non-negotiable and in accordance with collective agreement requirements)

Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week

Shifts: Mon-Fri, Days/Evenings/Weekends/Statutory Holidays/On Call

Status: Temporary Full-Time (12 Months Contract)

Closing Date: November 10, 2026

Position Summary
As an integral member of the Pharmacy Services Inpatient Operations Team, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the following:

Duties





Independently performing all technical aspects of prescription preparation including compounding and dispensing responsibilities, as per master worksheets

Replenishing stock medication supplies for assigned areas

Ensuring patient information is updated and maintained in the pharmacy computer system

Completing all required reports and documentation

Attending, participating and assisting in staff and patient training/educational functions

Performing workload measurement support functions

Performing cross-functional and/other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested

Qualifications

Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program at an accredited college or recognized equivalent required

Registration as a Pharmacy Technician (Part A) in positive standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists required

Ability to work under minimal supervision and to manage competing priorities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to learn and troubleshoot changing technologies/machinery

Two years practical and related experience preferred

Previous hospital experience with unit dose system and intravenous admixture service, preferred
