HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) Program Worker
Full Time Position with Salary Range starting at $23.14 per hour, 37.5 hours per week**

What’s The Job?
As a HIPPY Program Worker, you will be a crucial part of the HIPPY Team, reporting to the program manager, helping to provide the delivery of established HIPPY programming for newcomer parents of 3, 4, and 5-year-old pre-school children.
This program includes the recruitment of HIPPY families, assessment of their developmental needs, and then the delivery of the parent education program in their homes and/or via group sessions.
You will:
Conduct regular visits to parents in their own homes, providing them with weekly learning materials, and role play activities, which are curriculum-based and age appropriate as part of the HIPPY program.
Facilitate group meetings to develop newcomer parenting skills to better support their children, strengthen the parent-child relationship, aid parents in gaining English skills, gain confidence as a parent, and build families’ community network.
Act as liaison for HIPPY program participants to newcomer supports to help reduce language and cultural barriers
Coordinate and facilitate pre-school group events to assist HIPPY children participants in learning social skills and expectations.
Some of the standard daily work you will do involves, Client Meetings, Phone/Computer Usage, Group Information sessions or presentations, Data Entry, Case Work & Follow Ups, and reporting.
This role collaborates across departments to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote IRSA’s vision, mission and core values.
What Skills or Qualification will help me succeed?
Programming work requires organization, project management,
explicit standards for performance and an effective communications style. Given the timing and work of supporting programs, a flexible personal schedule would also be considered a key asset to this role. You will be working with the public, so comfort in speaking to groups and networking would be essential to your success. Also, our programming is aimed to support newcomers, cultural competence and empathy to their needs are also key.
The following list of skills would also be considered assets:
You have a post-secondary degree or diploma in Education, Human Services, Social Work, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 1-year experience in role (or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience).
Experience working with a Client Management System (CMS)
Ability to communicate in other languages
Working knowledge of local supports and community resources
Having a valid provincial driver license with access to reliable transportation
This position entails a mixture of in and out of office work, with frequent travel locally and infrequent travel regionally
Our office open hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, availability will be required after hours and on weekends for client sessions regularly.
