**Job Title: B Pressure Welder**
**Job Description**
This role focuses on pressure welding for a dedicated pressure vessel team in a fabrication environment.
You will weld vessels, spools, and nozzles on the production floor, perform consistent back welding, and support the assembly of exchanger systems using overhead cranes.
Work will be guided by detailed product drawings and piping and instrumentation diagrams, with time split primarily between vessel welding and spooling as project demands require.
**Responsibilities**
Perform pressure welding on vessels, spools, and nozzles on the production floor with a strong focus on quality and safety.
Base all welds on product drawings and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs;), ensuring accuracy and compliance with specifications.
Split work time between vessel welding (approximately 70%) and spooling (approximately 30%) according to production needs.
Carry out back welding operations consistently to meet structural and pressure requirements.
Use overhead cranes to move, position, and assemble components and exchanger systems safely and efficiently.
Execute fitting, layout, and assembly tasks for piping and pressure vessel components in a fabrication environment.
Read and interpret product drawings and layout plans to perform precise fabrication, installation, and welding activities.
Support hydrotesting and piping-related tasks as required to verify the integrity of welded and assembled systems.
Apply troubleshooting skills to resolve issues related to pipe fitting, fabrication, and welding during production.
Follow established safety procedures and participate in orientation and HSE-guided practices, including working with an assigned buddy during initial days.
Collaborate with the production team to maintain an organized workflow and meet project timelines within a large, ongoing project base.
**Essential Skills**
Valid B Pressure Ticket.
Journeyman Welder designation.
Demonstrated experience in a fabrication environment, particularly with vessels and spooling.
Strong pipe fitting skills, including fitting and assembly of pressure piping systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, product drawings, and P&IDs; accurately.
Proficiency in pressure welding, including back welding on vessels and spools.
Hands-on experience with overhead cranes for moving and assembling large components.
Knowledge of hydrotesting, piping, fabrication, installation, and welding processes.
Troubleshooting skills related to pipe fitting, fabrication, and welding operations.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Experience with layout work for piping and vessel components.
Fitting experience in a production or fabrication shop setting.
Experience with X-ray testing requirements and standards for weld quality.
Comfort working from daily P&ID; layouts and production plans.
Experience operating cranes in an industrial environment.

**Work Environment**
The role is based in a modern fabrication shop located in an industrial area, near established commercial amenities.
The facility specializes in compression and process piping for oil and gas applications and features state-of-the-art equipment and organized workflows.
The position follows an afternoon shift schedule from 4:30 PM to 2:30 AM, Monday through Thursday, working four 10-hour shifts each week.
Current hires participate in a structured orientation with health, safety, and environment guidance and work with a buddy during the first few days before transitioning to independent work with daily P&ID; layouts.
The environment is production-focused, with frequent use of overhead cranes and other fabrication tools, and emphasizes safety, clear procedures, and consistent, high-quality output.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $46.35 - $51.93/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
