Join Vancouver School Board as the Director of Labour Relations, an executive role that shapes strategic labour relations across a major public education system. Ideal for those with strong bargaining and leadership skills, this position is primarily in-person.
The Vancouver School Board is on the lookout for an experienced Director of Labour Relations to provide critical expertise in a complex, unionized environment. This senior role involves navigating 14 collective agreements and advising on significant issues affecting the district. You will work with the Executive Director of Employee Services to promote structured relationships with union stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute collective bargaining strategies
• Administer collective agreements and resolve grievances
• Advise on workplace investigations and compliance matters
• Build and maintain trusting relationships with unions
• Provide executive-level advice on labour relations challenges
Requirements:
• 7-10 years of relevant labour relations experience
• Proven involvement in grievance arbitration
• Solid leadership and communication capabilities
• Degree in Human Resources, Law, or related field
• Experience in a public sector or educational setting
This position is integral to advancing VSB’s labour relations initiatives while ensuring a supportive environment for over 7,700 employees.
