On-call Relief Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier
based in
Lac-Etchemin, Quebec , with deliveries also covering
Ste-Rose-de-Watford
and

This is an
on-call, temporary position
that offers real flexibility while giving you hands-on experience in
mail delivery and rural carrier operations . You'll work independently across your assigned route, sorting and delivering mail efficiently while representing one of Canada's most recognized organizations.
About the Role: Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, On-call Relief Day to day, you'll be responsible for
sorting, collecting, and delivering mail and parcels
safely and on schedule across rural and suburban routes. You'll get to know your delivery area inside and out — the roads, the customers, and the mailboxes — and you'll handle a range of
Canada Post products and services
including change-of-address notifications, damaged mail, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB).
Safety is central to this role. You'll be expected to
wear Canada Post identification
at all times while on duty, ensure mail is properly secured throughout your route, and operate your personal vehicle in compliance with all requirements. This is a position where
reliability, attention to detail, and safe driving habits

Responsibilities As an on-call relief carrier, your work directly supports the communities you serve. Each shift involves
safe, organized, and timely delivery
of mail and parcels across your assigned rural and suburban routes. Here's what you'll be doing on a regular basis:
Sort and deliver
mail items safely and on schedule to customers across rural and suburban routes
Collect outgoing mail
and ensure all items remain securely in your possession throughout the route
Build and maintain knowledge
of local roads, delivery receptacles, and customer locations
Process Canada Post products and services
including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail reports, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
Wear Canada Post identification
visibly at all times during delivery and collection
Lift and carry items
up to 50 lb / 22.7 kg as part of regular parcel handling
Operate your personal vehicle
safely across all weather and traffic conditions
Requirements / Skills Canada Post is looking for candidates who are
responsible, independent, and physically capable
of managing a delivery route. A
clean driving record
and the right vehicle setup are essential for this position. Preference will be given to applicants residing within
75 km of the Lac-Etchemin Post Office .
Valid permanent provincial driver's licence
— Class 5 or G required
Satisfactory safe driving record
— a driver's abstract will be required
Experience making deliveries
and operating a motor vehicle in varied weather and traffic conditions
French language proficiency
— French is essential for this position
Personal vehicle meeting mandatory requirements : minimum 50 cu ft cargo capacity, automatic transmission, power windows, metal rooftop with accessory power outlet, passenger window sill height between 38" and 45", and a fifth door/hatchback (preferred)
Automobile liability insurance
covering vehicle use for Canada Post deliveries, with insurer notification required
Valid permanent provincial driver's licence class 5 or G; satisfactory safe driving record (driver's abstract required); personal vehicle meeting mandatory cargo capacity and equipment requirements
