About the Role
Polar Engineering is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Project Implementation Team .
In this role, you will work directly with Scott Stewart , Head of Polar’s Project Implementation Team, supporting a rapidly growing portfolio of energy recovery, decarbonization, and net-zero implementation projects across British Columbia.
You will be part of Scott’s team—affectionately known as “The Grounders” —helping clients from the ground up to implement impactful energy reduction measures and step towards net zero buildings.This position blends engineering design, real-world implementation, and client-facing work , with a strong focus on designing and delivering low carbon energy recovery projects.
You will collaborate closely with the broader Polar Engineering team on technical reports, energy modeling, system design, and project delivery and helping communicate Polar’s impact through select outreach and social media efforts.
What You Will Do
Perform engineering calculations to size and specify systems
Create 2D CAD drawings and system schematics
Work with manufacturers to understand equipment performance, integration and delivery timelines
Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and provide feedback on system selections
Perform site visits to understand existing systems and determine suitability of new systems
Coordinate and prioritize clients needs for their facility
Support the team during project procurement, construction and client hand-off
Coordinate with other specialized consultants on the design and construction team
Develop new tools and standards
Help advocate for green energy and net-zero solutions within the industry
By doing this work, you will help Polar and its clients turn climate goals into built, operating systems .
Requirements
2+ year accredited mechanical engineering technical degree
Residence in BC, Lowermainland
Easy to work with, resourceful, responsible and collaborative
Preference Given To Candidates With:
B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
EGBC EIT status or eligibility to apply
Mechanical HVAC design, refrigeration, control, or analysis experience
