Engage in cutting-edge radiation tracking with TRIUMF as a Student Systems Developer. Contribute to coding simulations and commissioning radiation detectors, enhancing environmental monitoring. TRIUMF seeks a dedicated student to join its Radiation Protection Group.
In this role, you will implement geometries for numerical simulations, install radiation detectors, and analyze calibration test data using ROOT. Practical experience will be gained in detection systems and simulation coding, as well as insights from student lectures and seminars. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct numerical simulations for shielding design evaluations
- Install and commission gamma-ray detectors and monitors
- Analyze experimental data using ROOT framework
- Implement mathematical models to fit calibration data
- Produce detailed reports on findings
Requirements:
- Enrollment in Physics, Engineering Physics, or Computing Science
- Intermediate programming knowledge in C/C++ and relevant languages
- Interest in nuclear physics and environmental radiation
- Basic understanding of electronics required
- No prior experience needed outside academia
