Laboratory Technician- Neegan Technical Service The Laboratory Technician is responsible for supporting plant operations through routine sampling, analytical testing, data validation and entry and sample management activities. The role requires close interaction with Operations and other site stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate analytical results are available to support process monitoring, environmental compliance, and operational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Collect process, water, and bitumen samples from various plant locations.
Perform routine analytical testing according to established schedules and operating procedures.
Respond to ad hoc sampling and analytical requests as operational needs arise.
Prepare, package, document, and coordinate shipment of samples to accredited off‑site laboratories.
Maintain analytical equipment and perform routine quality control checks.
Ensure compliance with laboratory QA/QC requirements, safety standards, and operating procedures.
Record and report analytical results in laboratory information management systems and databases.
Routine troubleshooting and equipment maintenance activities.

Various wet chemistry titrations

Chloride in Bitumen
Sediment Contamination in Bitumen
Karl Fischer Water Content
Density Determination
Qualifications Required
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemistry, or
Technical Diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, or related
Preferred Skills
Solid laboratory safety and QA/QC practices
Experience with analytical instrumentation and wet chemistry techniques
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
Strong attention to detail and sample traceability requirements
Experience in industrial, oil sands, petrochemical, environmental, or process laboratory environments
