Position: Support Services Facilitator- Day Services The Support Services Facilitator provides person-centered support to adults with developmental disabilities through a dynamic, community-based support model. This role focuses on social recreation and leisure, life skills development, and vocational skills training within our Social Enterprise. The Facilitator promotes independence, inclusion, and meaningful participation while maintaining a secure, supportive, and engaging environment.

Position Status: Newly created vacancy- full-Time, 12-Month Contract (with possibility of extension)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: $28.62 per hour
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible, based on the successful candidate’s availability
Key Responsibilities
Social Recreation & Leisure Support
- Plan, facilitate, and actively participate in on-site and community-based recreation activities.
- Support individuals in accessing community resources such as recreation centres, libraries, volunteer opportunities, and public transportation.
- Assist individuals in exploring hobbies and interests that build confidence and community involvement.
- Promote safe, meaningful participation in community activities.
- Encourage positive peer relationships and model respectful social interactions.
Life Skills Development
- Provide coaching and support in daily living skills including cooking, budgeting, communication, transportation, and use of community resources.
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning styles and promote independence.
- Support decision-making, problem-solving, and self-advocacy in everyday situations.
Vocational Skills Development
- Support individuals participating in vocational skill development within the Social Enterprise, including customer service, product preparation, and operational tasks.
- Model and reinforce professional workplace behaviours such as punctuality, teamwork, communication, and task completion.
- Adapt tasks to individual abilities while ensuring meaningful contributions to operations.
- Promote skill-building that supports volunteer engagement, employment readiness, and increased independence.
Individualized Support & Documentation
- Implement Individual Support Plans and contribute to goal setting and progress reviews.
- Complete daily documentation, progress notes, and incident reports as required.
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, team members, and external professionals to ensure person-centered support.
Health, Safety & Professional Conduct
- Follow all agency policies, safety procedures, and risk management protocols.
- Assist with personal care as required, based on participant needs.
- Implement behavioural and crisis prevention strategies as outlined in support plans.
- Administer medication in accordance with agency policy, if required.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with team members to enhance programming and service delivery.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and program development initiatives.
Qualifications (Required)
- Diploma or degree in a social services - related field (e.g., DSW, CYW, SSW, Psychology, Sociology, or related discipline).
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent, relevant experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities.
- Current CPI certification.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid G2 or G driver’s license and ability to transport participants as required.
- Successful Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of a range of developmental disabilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, and sound judgment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
Schedule & Compensation
- Monday to Friday, daytime hours; occasional evening shift may be required based on program needs.
- $28.62 per hour.
