About Amii

Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii) is one of Canada's three main institutes for artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, our world-renowned researchers drive fundamental and applied research at the University of Alberta (and other academic institutions), training some of the world's top scientific talent. Our cross-functional teams work collaboratively with Alberta-based businesses and organizations to build AI capacity and translate scientific advancement into industry adoption and economic impact.

About the Role

The Manager, National AI Literacy Programs supports the development, deployment, and growth of Amii's industry-focused AI literacy programming. The Manager, National AI Literacy Programs oversees national AI literacy programs that support AI literacy development for a broad spectrum of learners across Canada.

Reporting to the Director, AI Literacy, the Manager, National AI Literacy Programs is a key member of the Training team, actively contributing to the execution of Amii's commitment to nurturing an AI-literate future across Canada. This position focuses on driving program development and growth, fostering strong stakeholder relationships, and supporting the success of Amii's National AI Literacy programs.

Required Skills / ExpertiseKey Responsibilities:

- Collaborates with the Director, AI Literacy and Product Owner, Training to develop national AI literacy programming
- Establishes program delivery workflows and infrastructure to support content development efforts, reporting requirements, and the sharing of resources with key program stakeholders
- Supports the identification of opportunities for government funding or industry partnerships to scale national AI literacy programming
- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to grow national AI literacy programming efforts




- Establishes and manages the relationship between Amii and key national stakeholders
- Firmly establishes themselves as a trusted subject matter expert in AI literacy
- Collaborates with internal stakeholder groups to promote and amplify messaging around national AI literacy programming opportunities
- Collaborate with the Training team, ML Educators, Instructional Designers, and AI Literacy Specialists, and more to create content that will resonate with our target learners
- Fosters and maintains strong stakeholder relationships
- Maintains and improves systems and tools in the organization that lead to measurable efficiency gains
- Encourages and identifies problem-solving approaches to work while acting as a collaborator
- Approaches personal development and learning opportunities collaboratively and draws lessons for future coaching and people leadership opportunities
- Identifies opportunities for efficiency and takes tangible actions to execute improvements
- Provides supervision to team members by overseeing and refining their work, and managing approval processes as required
- Mentors direct reports on career development and progression, drawing lessons for coaching opportunities
- Fosters a collaborative work environment by facilitating teamwork and the exchange of ideas among team members
- Encourages and maintains a problem-solving approach to work while acting as a coach and collaborator
- Identifies and addresses knowledge gaps, providing solutions or resources to bridge them
- Functions as a point of escalation for addressing challenges and facilitating the resolution of problems
- Conducts performance reviews for direct reports
- Qualifications:

- Post-secondary degree in Business, Education, Machine Learning, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership capacity in industry or academic setting (Direct People Leadership)
- Experience managing large-scale or national programs (nice to have)
- Experience managing large groups of diverse stakeholders




- Experience developing learning paths specialized to target audiences
- Experience with a variety of educational technologies and online learning tools (nice to have)
- Experience in public speaking and facilitation (nice to have)
