Role: Personal Insurance Advisor

Our client is looking for a "Personal Insurance Advisor" to join their team.
What you'll do:
As a Personal Insurance Advisor, you'll be responsible for providing exceptional insurance advice and service to our clients while growing and retaining a book of business. You'll build strong client relationships, understand their insurance needs, recommend appropriate solutions, and ensure clients receive a high level of ongoing care.
Client Service & Advice
- Service ongoing client needs, provide professional insurance advice, conduct needs assessments, recommend appropriate solutions, and respond to client inquiries.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients through proactive and personalized service.
- Conduct client care calls and proactively identify opportunities to review and improve clients' insurance programs.
- Review renewals with clients, identify coverage gaps and opportunities, and recommend appropriate changes.
- Act as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for clients, taking ownership of their insurance needs.
Sales & New Business
- Sell new policies and write new business for existing and prospective clients while retaining and growing the existing book of business.
- Handle inbound new business inquiries, provide quotes and coverage recommendations, and follow up with prospects to convert opportunities into new clients.
- Generate new business through inbound calls, client referrals, introductory letters, walk-in clients, and other brokerage initiatives.
- Identify and pursue cross-selling and account-rounding opportunities within the existing client base.
- Meet or exceed established new business, retention, and revenue targets.
- Actively contribute to the growth and profitability of the personal insurance portfolio.
Policy Administration
- Prepare documentation for insurers and complete applications accurately and efficiently.
- Issue insurance certificates, process policy changes, and complete other policy transactions.
- Review and process renewals in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client and policy information within the brokerage management system.
- Process accounts receivable activities and follow up on outstanding client balances as required.
- Ensure all documentation and transactions are completed in accordance with brokerage and insurer procedures.
Insurance & Industry Knowledge
- Communicate with underwriters and claims adjusters regarding policy coverage, underwriting guidelines, claims, and client-specific situations.
- Maintain current knowledge of insurer products, coverage options, underwriting guidelines, markets, and brokerage procedures.
- Keep current on changes to underwriting rules, insurer guidelines, products, and workflow processes.
- Stay informed about industry developments that may affect clients and the brokerage.
- Actively participate in training, professional development, and continuing education initiatives.
- Maintain all required licensing and qualified qualifications.
Team & Community
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and provide guidance and assistance as requested.
- Contribute to a positive, professional, and team-oriented workplace.
- Participate in community marketing, networking,
and business-development initiatives.
- Represent the brokerage professionally at community events, client functions, and other business-development opportunities.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the brokerage's clients, team, and overall success.
What we're looking for
- Valid RIBO license in good standing.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in personal insurance, preferably in a brokerage environment.
- Strong knowledge of personal lines products, coverage, and underwriting practices.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong sales and business-development skills with a client-first approach.
- Ability to identify client needs and confidently recommend appropriate insurance solutions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable handling inbound sales opportunities and following up with prospective clients.
