Role Description This is a remote, contract role for a Technician or Technologist / Drafter supporting architectural projects from concept through documentation. The role involves site measurements, preparing accurate technical drawings, 2D/3D models, and construction details based on design direction and building codes. Daily tasks include revising plans, coordinating drawing sets, organizing digital project files, and ensuring consistency with office standards.
The Technician or Technologist / Drafter will collaborate with architects, consultants, and project managers,
communicate clearly in a virtual workplace, and meet agreed schedules and deliverable timelines. The role may also support design development through diagramming, basic rendering, and ongoing documentation updates.
Qualifications
- Technical drafting and modeling skills using industry-standard CAD and BIM tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar). Experience with Vectorworks is an asset.
- Minimum of 7 years experience working in an architectural practice
- Understanding of architectural design principles, building systems, and basic building codes or standards.
- Ability to produce clear construction documents, details, and coordinated drawing sets.
- Strong digital collaboration skills, including remote communication, file management, and version control.
- Relevant diploma or degree in Architectural technician or Technology, Drafting, or a closely related field.
- Experience working with architects and engineers on residential or commercial projects is beneficial.
- Attention to detail, ability to work independently, and commitment to sustainable, inclusive design practices.
- Eligibility to work as an independent contractor and reliable access to the necessary software and hardware for remote work.
