As part of the Thrift team, you’ll help create a welcoming experience for customers and donors, build positive relationships within the community, and contribute to a purpose-driven organization where every donation makes a difference.

Reporting to the Thrift Depot Manager, the Donations Associate screens, accepts, sorts, prices and stocks donations at the Thrift Shop Depot. They also provide exceptional customer service and support to our volunteers who assist in depot operations and contribute to a positive team environment.

Days/Hours of Work: Monday, Friday, Saturday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (24 hours per week). Potential to pick up an extra day for sick call-outs or vacation coverage. Location of Work: 9760 Fourth Street, Sidney, with occasional shifts required at the Brentwood Bay Depot (7105B West Saanich Road).

Closing Date: Applications will be accepted until Monday, September 28, 2026 at 5:00 PM. Interviews will be held on Tuesday, October 6.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for customers, staff, and volunteers at the Thrift Shop Donation Depot
- Follow Donation Safety Guidelines when accepting, sorting, and pricing sellable items, and politely decline items that cannot be accepted




- Prepare deliveries for the Brentwood Bay and Victoria Thrift Shops and transport items between all three Sidney Thrift Shop locations using a Beacon-provided van
- Maintain attractive and organized retail displays
- Provide excellent customer service through clear, friendly, and professional communication
- Support and assist volunteers to help ensure a positive experience
- Maintain a clean and organized depot area, including daily garbage and recycling removal
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, donors, co-workers, and volunteers
- Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

- Class 5 Driver's license preferred but not required
- Customer service experience is considered an asset

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Ability to carry out the physical requirements of the position, including:
- Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs
- Be on your feet for the entire shift and in all weather conditions
- Skilled at maintaining professionalism in stressful situations
- Robust written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks and priorities

- All successful applicants must consent to a Solicitor General’s Criminal Record Check.
- All successful applicants are required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
- All successful applicants are required to disclose their COVID-19 vaccination status upon hire. Depending on future public health developments, Beacon may implement a vaccination requirement as a condition of ongoing employment for all our workplaces.
