We are seeking applications for Underground Blasters. Reporting to the Underground Supervisor, the Underground Blaster position is responsible for the prepping and charging of production and or development headings with explosives to a pre-designed blast pattern.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Attend mining Pre-Shift Meetings each shift
- Conduct operator pre-start checks on all vehicles and mobile plant prior to operation
- Clean and maintain cleanliness of Explosives Vehicle, IT’s, LV’s and Charge baskets (Internally and Externally) to Byrnecut policy
- Conduct post firing CO testing as required for mine re-entry
- Charge and fire headings / stopes in accordance with company policies and procedure
- Correct handling / reporting of misfires as per Byrnecut policy and procedures




- Liaise with jumbo operators to ensure development advance is optimised
- Charge and fire stripping rounds and long hole stopes
- Stock control of explosives / maintain surface and underground explosive magazines
- Ensure inspections are carried out on all equipment before use
- Ensure that all tools and equipment are serviceable and safe
- Carrying out standard work place inspections practices and procedures
- Assess potential hazards and make necessary changes to eliminate or control them reporting hazards to supervisor as Byrnecut policy
- Prepare headings / stopes for hole charging
- Logging of programmable detonators for stope charging
- Operation of IT to transport explosives to designated headings, underground magazine
- Initiating and participating in equipment and job status handovers with Mine Supervisors and cross shift operators

Qualifications:

- Must have a minimum of 5 years underground mining experience
- Minimum of 2 years on specialist underground mining equipment
- Willingness to work rotating 12 hour shifts (Day/Night Shift)
- Previous experience working in an underground mine
- Trained and assessed to competently operate relevant mobile plant and light vehicles
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Have a good understanding of general OHS
- Hold a current Dangerous Goods Security Card
- Able to apply for a Site Blasting Certificate
- Clear and concise verbal skills / proficient English reading and writing skills
- Ability to understand, interpret and follow instructions
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Maintain good relationships with other personnel
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe work workplace

Pay: $110,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
