The Yard Supervisor oversees all yard personnel and activities, including serving customers in the yard and maintaining receiving, unloading, and delivery schedules. Supervise compliance with safety and fire regulations. The Supervisor is accountable for all materials and equipment in the yard. The Yard Supervisor must perform all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to support store efficiency and a high level of customer service.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist and communicate with customers, management, employees, and delivery personnel.

Move throughout the yard to monitor the activities of employees, assist customers, check inventory status, and verify the safety and security of the yard.

Assume responsibilities for all yard activities.

Supervise yard personnel, keeping productivity at peak levels.

Supervise customer service in the yard.

Develop and maintain receiving, unloading, and delivery schedules.

Supervise the maintenance and safe operation of yard equipment, including forklifts, carts, pallet jack, etc.

Report out-of-stock items and surplus items to the appropriate personnel.

Supervise compliance with safety and fire regulations.

Establish and maintain policies which minimize waste and employ labour hours productively.





Provide a good example for employees under your supervision by following company policies and procedures.

Acknowledge customers in a friendly manner and provide assistance when required.

Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School graduation or equivalent.

1 - 2 years of retail experience is an asset

Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends

Ability to lead.

Excellent communication skills.

Good understanding of Home Hardware’s policies and procedures.

Ability to work co-operatively in a team workplace.

Must be able to safely operate equipment required for efficient yard operations, including a lumber cart, forklift, pallet jack, ladder, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to move materials weighing up to 100 pounds around the yard, placing them on or removing them from trucks, pallets, etc.

Pay: From $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 42.5 per week
