Kings Energy Group
Lloydminster
Position Summary
Do you already know who buys fuel in this region, and would they take your call? Kings Energy Group is looking for a Senior Fuel Account Manager to grow our commercial fuel and tank business out of our Lloydminster branch. This is the seat where recent volume comes from: you find the opportunities, ask the detailed questions that surface what an operation actually needs, and build the relationships that keep clients with us for years.
This is a role for someone with a real reputation in the local business community, the kind earned over years, and the discipline to back it up. You will work a defined sales process: thorough discovery first, accurate information in the CRM, then a recommendation you can stand behind. Alongside new business, you will manage a portfolio of existing accounts and protect the volume they represent. If you would rather build something durable than chase a quick win, you will fit right in.
Duties and Responsibilities
New Business Development & Market Presence
- Own new fuel and tank growth in the Lloydminster market, using an established local network alongside a defined prospecting and qualification process
- Identify and pursue new opportunities through network development, referrals, community presence, and inbound inquiries
- Build and maintain a strong personal reputation across the local business, agriculture, oilfield, transportation, and construction communities, representing Kings Energy Group as a visible and credible partner
- Represent Kings at local industry events, association functions, and community activities where customer relationships are built
- Conduct thorough discovery on customer operations, fuel usage, storage requirements, delivery needs, and constraints before proposing anything
- Collect, validate, and document all required customer information in the CRM before advancing an opportunity
- Move opportunities through defined sales funnel stages, meeting the required activities and criteria at each one
- Prepare and present fuel and tank recommendations only after discovery, internal review, and alignment are complete
- Keep a current, well-organized pipeline that clearly identifies next steps and timelines
- Convert qualified prospects into long term customers through consistent, accurate, and well timed follow up
Account Management & Client Retention
- Manage and support a defined portfolio of existing customers as their primary point of contact
- Maintain proactive, planned communication so clients hear from you before there is a problem
- Document client interactions, requests, and follow ups accurately in the CRM
- Identify upsell and cross sell opportunities based on customer data and usage trends
- Work with Operations and Logistics to resolve issues quickly and protect long term relationships
- Deliver targeted annual volume growth from existing clients
Product Knowledge & Solution Alignment
- Maintain working knowledge of fuel products, pricing structures, tank programs, and delivery models
- Use discovery findings to align customer needs with the right fuel and tank solutions
- Verify assumptions by confirming facts, constraints, and operational requirements before recommending options
- Articulate the company's value proposition clearly and accurately, based on validated customer information
Cross Functional Communication & Reporting
- Work closely with Operations, Logistics, Marketing, and Wholesale so customer solutions are handed off and executed as sold
- Give internal teams complete, well documented information to support onboarding and delivery
- Keep CRM entries accurate and timely, including discovery notes, opportunity stages, next steps, and follow ups
- Come to scheduled meetings, one on ones, and pipeline reviews with prepared and reliable data
- Model process discipline for the broader sales team and share market insight that helps others sell
Market Intelligence & Territory Planning
- Monitor fuel market conditions and competitor activity to support informed customer discussions
- Apply market information within established sales guidelines rather than experimental approaches
- Execute sales priorities aligned with defined growth strategies and territory plans
Who we are looking for
Skills/Competencies
- Known and trusted locally: you have built a network in this region over years, people take your call, and you protect that reputation in how you sell
- Disciplined rather than improvisational: you work the process, ask the detailed questions, and do not skip discovery to get to a proposal faster
- Curious about how a client actually runs, from tanks and volumes to delivery windows and constraints, and you keep asking until you understand the operation
- Accurate with information, because what you put in the CRM is what Operations, Logistics, and billing build on
- Patient with a long sale: you are comfortable when a deal takes months, and your follow up stays consistent the whole way
- A steady presence with existing accounts, calling before there is a problem rather than after
- Commercially minded: you see a tank in a yard and think about litres, term, and whether Kings is the right fit
- Comfortable being the face of Kings, whether at an association meeting, a client's shop, or a community event
Required Qualifications
- Business development, outside sales, or account management: 5 to 10 years minimum
- Established professional network in the Lloydminster area business community
- Based in Lloydminster, AB, or prepared to relocate before your start date
- Valid driver's licence and acceptable driver's abstract, with willingness to travel regularly to customer sites
- Comfortable with systems and applications: CRM (HubSpot), reporting and forecasting tools, and the everyday Microsoft tools (Word, Excel) and Teams
- High attention to detail for accurate discovery notes, documentation, and record keeping
- Strong written and verbal English language communication skills
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Familiarity with the local energy market
- Direct experience selling fuel, lubricants, tank programs, or related industrial products
- Experience serving agriculture, oilfield, transportation, construction, and municipal clients
- Post secondary education in business, commerce, agriculture, or a related field
- Experience mentoring or setting the standard for less experienced sales team members
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
Pay & Benefits
- $75,000 to $90,000 base salary per year, depending on experience
- Commission potential of $20,000 to $30,000 per year
- Performance bonus of up to $10,000 per year, based on company sales and performance metrics
- Vehicle allowance and company fuel card for business travel
- 3 weeks paid vacation
- Fuel discount at select service stations
- Employer-matched Retirement Savings Program
- Comprehensive benefit plan, including dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and extended health care
