About the Position

We are looking for a caring, responsible, and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator (ECE) or Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) to join our 3 to 5 age group and Out-of-School Care program at Honey Bear Childcare.

The successful candidate will help provide a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for school-age children during the afternoon program. The position involves supporting children's social, emotional, physical, and recreational needs while maintaining active supervision and following all applicable child-care licensing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide attentive and active supervision of children at all times.
- Support children during arrival, transitions, snack time, outdoor play, free play, and planned activities.
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment where children feel safe and supported.
- Plan and participate in age-appropriate games, crafts, recreational activities, and outdoor activities.
- Encourage positive social interactions, cooperation, independence, and respectful behaviour.
- Follow the program's policies, procedures, safety practices, and care plans.
- Maintain appropriate communication with the program supervisor and other staff.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with parents/guardians when required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe program workplace.
- Follow Fraser Health and B.C. Child Care Licensing Regulation requirements related to supervision, health, safety, and child care.
- Report any concerns regarding a child's health, safety, behaviour, or well-being to the appropriate supervisor.




- Assist with emergency procedures and maintain required health and safety practices.

QualificationsECE Applicant

- Valid B.C. Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate issued by the ECE Registry.
- Experience working with school-age children is an asset.
- Current First Aid certification appropriate for the position.
- Clear criminal record check as required for employment in licensed child care.
- Demonstrated ability to provide safe, caring, and responsive supervision.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

ECEA Applicant

- Valid B.C. Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) Certificate issued by the ECE Registry.
- Experience working with children is an asset.
- Current First Aid certification appropriate for the position.
- Clear criminal record check as required for employment in licensed child care.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with educators and provide appropriate care and supervision.

Under the B.C. Child Care Licensing Regulation, an individual employed as an educator or assistant in a licensed child-care facility must hold the applicable certificate. ECEA certification requires completion of qualifying early-childhood education coursework and meeting the ECE Registry's requirements.

This position is subject to the applicable requirements of the B.C. Child Care Licensing Regulation and Fraser Health licensing requirements. Staffing levels and qualifications will be maintained in accordance with the program's licence and applicable legislation.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour
